Sunday Links: George Carlin - Plus: The MBIP Coming Attractions!

by MBIP

Tomorrow is comedian George Carlin’s 88th birthday. However, he died back on June 22, 2008, so he’s not around to do much celebrating these days.

Despite that fact, we’ve got six links to online articles about the legendary and irreverent comedian, actor and author below, plus a video of him discussing hosting the very first episode of Saturday Night Live, in honor of his birthday tomorrow.

Below that are the MBIP Coming Attractions for next week’s series of posts!

SUNDAY LINKS

George Carlin Biography (1937-2008) - A nice succinct biography from the TV channel of the same name.

The Best of George Carlin: Ranking Every Album - George Carlin pretty much reinvented the comedy album, this is a good list of the entire batch.

You Can’t Say That at Sunmerfest: The City of Milwaukee v. George Carlin - George Carlin got arrested for saying the “seven words you can’t say on TV” at the Summerfest in Milwaukee, but in the end the judge had a sense of humor and declared Carlin not guilty.

10 Surprising Facts About George Carlin - I don’t know if these are “surprising,” but they are interesting.

George Carlin’s Last Interview - George Carlin says at the end of the interview that it’s the most complete interview he ever did. Kind of fitting since this was the last one he would ever do.

George Carlin, irreverent comedian, dies at 71 - The New York Times obituary.

George Carlin on hosting the first episode of Saturday Night Live - I agree with him, it was weird that SNL never asked him to be featured in one of their anniversary shows.

MBIP COMING ATTRACTIONS

Monday: I went to Kenny’s Westside Pub and had a fabulous Saturday night dinner, enjoyed the music of a Beatles/jam band, Beat The Meatles and hung out with owner, Sean Kenny in the exclusive Treehouse hideaway in Kenny’s. Check it all out on tomorrow’s post.

Tuesday: It’s our final week of our super-short Peoria sauce tour and this week we’re featuring one of Peoria’s most famous sauces, Agatucci’s Tiger Sauce!

Wednesday: I went to a Peoria Chiefs game with my friend Mike, who had a suite for the game! It was a fun evening and you can read all about that on Wednesday.

Thursday: We’ll have another Throwback Thursday post this week from a blog post from over a decade ago.

Friday: We have a special announcement on Friday that will explain why there’s no Saturday post this week.
