Hoops Pub and Pizza has been a fixture on Main Street for well over twenty years now.
They’re open till the wee hours of the morning and it’s one of the few places in Peoria that you can get a lone slice of pizza.
I went there and met friends way back in July of 2014 in those lovely pre-pandemic times!
Let’s go back and take a look at that evening…oh Sherman…

Here we are at Hoops Pub and Pizza on Main Street.
It was still light out when I took this photo and I wasn’t happy with it, there will be a better shot coming up, I promise!
We’re now inside, it’s always nice and dark in here, just the way I like it.
Hercules was tending bar and served up an ice-cold bottle of Budweiser with a nice smile. I love this guy!
Here’s a shot from the back of the pub.
As you can see it’s a place that has a distinct magenta hue to it. It brings a warm feeling to your underside and the bottoms of your toes. I love that feeling!
I met friends on this evening and here they are, clockwise from left: Steve, Kathy, Clare and Yours Fooly!
I miss all of you a lot and hope we can gather again in post pandemic times!

The menu here features Peoria Style Pizza, which I had no idea existed.
You live and you learn, unless you’re like me and then you really don’t. You just live and keep waking up thinking, what the fuck am I still doing alive? Aaahhhh!
Clare, Kathy and Steve got this pizza, but it had garlic on it so I couldn’t eat it because garlic gives me heartburn.
So I got a slice of their pizza, which leads us to this week’s Pizza of Peoria!
I got a slice of Hoops pizza that night. This is a sausage slice and it was delicious!
The pizza here is dense and flavorful. The sauce is tasty and tangy.
