We’re taking a trip to Farmington Road for the 42nd week of this clucked up chicken tour and the destination is the Country Club BBQ. I recently heard that they have a lot of chicken entrees on the menu including a half smoked chicken meal that sounds very tempting.
Two special guests are joining me this week and they’re waiting out in the MBIP World Headquarters Parking Lot, let’s go out and say hello to them!
They’ve been in business here in Peoria for over 15 years and they work with clients to create custom design, logos and illustration. They focus on brand identity, packaging design and application development. John’s expertise is in website and app development and De handles the branding and strategy development.
Okay, we’re off and headed to Country Club BBQ!
And through the miracle of these here inter webs, here we are!
Check out the sign…wow, I got second billing to Smiley Graphix…this is a real Spinal Tap moment for me!
As we walk in, John can’t stop staring at the sign and he’s filled with joy at how they got the top billing over me. I need a drink!
They have a wonderful bar in the front, but since there’s three of us, we got a table over there in the dining section.
Blaine and Andy were our servers for the day and we started off our meal with some chicken wings. We got the Blueberry BBQ and the Caribbean Jerk flavors and they were both very delicious. The Blueberry BBQ were really a unique taste with a nice mixture of sweet and spicy flavor happening.
After the wings I took a walk around to take a few photos while the main courses were being prepared.
As you can see, there’s a large selection of beers on tap to choose from at the main bar up front.
They have a gaming lounge open seven days a week starting at 9am. Opposite that are some picnic tables to dine at on the elevated level of the dining room.
There’s a another bar in the back and that door leads outside to…
Another bar in their beer garden area. This is open all year round and it’s heated in the winter
I met Sarah and John at the end of the bar an Sarah works with my friend, Clare. I think it’s time to cue this up!
There’s a fire pit in the back, dart boards and a bags court along with outside tables on a porch opposite the beer garden.
Meanwhile, back at our table…
Dinner is served!
We all ordered chicken dishes and John got the Chicken Q Shoe entree with Cole slaw and De got chicken tacos with a side of mac ’n cheese.
As you can see, they’re both enthusiastic eaters and they said the food was delicious and tasty!
For this week’s featured chicken dinner, I ordered the half smoked chicken dinner. It comes with two sides and I got the Mac ’n cheese and onion rings.
Let’s sample the side dishes first.
The Mac ’n cheese is pasta shells in a rich and somewhat tangy cheese sauce and they were so flavorful and satisfying! The onion rings were crispy and tasty and this was a wonderful start to the dinner.
Now on to the main course, the half smoked chicken!
They have a large selection of house-made sauces for the chicken and I sampled several of them and this was such a delicious smoked chicken. It was juicy with a nice smoky flavor and the sauces really added to the flavor and gave it a delicious and unique taste.
John, De and I all agreed that this is a must-stop in Peoria if you’re a fan of chicken-based dinners! Thanks to everyone at Country Club BBQ for the fabulous food and friendly hospitality!
And thanks to John and De for driving and joining me for the evening. Hopefully if we return, I’ll get top billing next time on the sign!
Four Dixie Chickens—That half smoked chicken was so juicy and tasty and I also have to highly recommend those Blueberry BBQ chicken wings. What a delicious dinner!
