A Guy Walks Into 365 Bars…Again! Bar Number 235: The Duck Blind

by MBIP

Several people have mentioned a bar in Kingston Mines called, The Duck Blind to me when the topic of bars outside of Peoria has come up.

I’ve never been to The Duck Blind and I’ve never been to Kingston Mines either.

So tonight we’ll kill two new visits with one ride and it’s off we go into the wild and somewhat darkening blue yonder!

Bar Number 235: The Duck Blind, Monday, October 13, 2026

Here we are at The Duck Blind bar in Kingston Mines.

It looks like a nice neighborhood bar, let’s go inside and check it out!

There’s a nice bar in here and plenty of open seats, let’s snag one and get settled in for the evening.

I told you that people have suggested I stop here and one of those people is our pretty bartender for the evening, Jessi, who’s serving me up a beer.

In addition to bartending here on Monday nights, Jessi is also the manager of Tyroni’s Italian Cafe in Bartonville and we met her there back at the beginning of August. She suggested we stop here and now we’re here. I love it when a plan falls into place and it’s wonderful to see her again!

They have a full menu here at The Duck Blind and they serve up lunch, dinner and late night food in here, so bring an appetite when you stop by!

I love the Pabst Blue Ribbon mirror at the back of the bar.

The lit-up bottle inentory below it is impressive as well.

I always love to see the classic Budweiser Trolley hanging overhead and I know that MBIP Commenter, Chad Wallace will love this too!

There’s dining tables and chairs opposite the bar in the front room.

As you can see from this trio of signs, there’s lots of daily food and drink specials happening in here!

There’s a Golden Tee game over in one corner and a nice dartboard in the opposite corner of the front bar room.

There’s a nice pool room in the middle room behind the bar area.

The back room is a nice-sized gaming room for all of you gamblers out there.

Jessi showed me the huge and Impressive beer patio outside in the back. This is one of the largest and nicest beer patios I’ve ever seen!

Meanwhile, back inside at the bar…

I met Jason and Michelle who had just sat down for a drink. Jason said he’s enjoyed the MBIP blog for a while and that’s always nice to hear. We had a fun conversation about local bars and places to eat and it turns out that Jason and Michelle have their own food and catering business called, Pork ‘N Stuff.

They started the business back in 2022 and they cater to weddings, private parties, special events, luncheons and anywhere that you need some specialty meats and tasty side dishes. I love their motto: “Life Is Too Short To Eat Shitty Food.” Ha ha ha! So true!

Jason said he’s friends with Loren Peacock who’s the esteemed owner of Peacock’s Pub in Bartonville and he says that Loren is a loyal customer who utilizes the catering service often. In fact Pork ‘N Stuff is catering an event happening there this Saturday!

You can check out Pork ‘N Stuff by clicking right here. Great to meet Jason and Michelle this evening and wonderful to see Jessi again!
