Sunday Links: Keith Moon - Plus: The MBIP Coming Attractions!

by MBIP

This coming Saturday is the birthday of Keith Moon who was the drummer and the heart and soul of the band The Who.

He would have been 79-years-old on his birthday this year, but sadly his flame burned out on September 7th, 1978, when the madcap drummer overdosed on a drug he was taking to curb his alcoholism. Irony at its finest hour.

I loved The Who and always felt that they should’ve retired that name after Keith Moon died. As I said, he was the heart and soul of The Who and in honor of his upcoming birthday, below are six links and a video from the short but crazy life of Keith Moon A.K.A. “Moon the Loon.”

And then there’s the MBIP Coming Attractions as to what’s happening on the blog next week.

Roger Daltry: ‘Keith Moon lived his entire life as a fantasy’ - Memories of Keith Moon from Roger Daltrey, Pete Townshend and Alice Cooper in this GQ article.

Keith Moon’s 10 Wildest Pranks - Great antics and pranks from “Moon the Loon!”

10 things you didn’t know about Keith Moon - I knew about half of these, but this is proof that you live and learn…about Keith Moon!

What Really Happened the Night Keith Moon Died? - A detailed article about the wild drummer’s last day and night on earth.

Keith Moon’s Last Interview - David Hartman interviewed him and Pete Townshend on Good Morning America in 1978. I’m surprised he got out of bed for this, although maybe he had been up all night!

Tuesday: It’s our twelfth week on our Dog Days of Summer hot dog eating tour and this week I went with Bob Gordon from Acme Comics to try out the hot dogs at The Other Dawg on War Memorial Drive.

Wednesday: I’ve never had a pizza at One World Cafe and my friend Kevin, who works there has volunteered to make me a pizza, so I’m going to try it out! Kevin made me pizzas back when he was the chef at Castle’s Patio Inn, so I’m anxious to try a pizza pie at One World Cafe!
