Rhythm Kitchen Music Cafe has started a weekly vinyl record party on every Wednesday and I decided to check it out. The DJ’s revolve and tonight’s DJ is Dusty 45’s and in addition to spinning vinyl tonight, he’s also celebrating his 52nd birthday!
So I decided to get him a present and thought since he’s a DJ, a vinyl record would be the proper gift and so of course I went directly to Younger Than Yesterday to consult with music and vinyl album aficionado, Craig Moore.

Younger Than Yesterday
Here we are at my favorite record and musical shop in Peoria, Younger Than Yesterday! It’s the perfect shop when looking for a birthday gift for a DJ!
Let’s go in and see what’s happening inside.
The place is loaded with vinyl and I see a familiar face over there…
It’s the smiling face of Craig Moore, the man who Phil Luciano recently described as The Guru of Vinyl!
Craig went through some of the massive collection of vinyl albums in here and chose the first album by Nazz to give to DJ Dusty 45’s for his birthday gift! Nazz was the second band to include Todd Rundgren.
Wonderful selection and thanks for your help, Craig! Now on to dinner!

Rhythm Kitchen Music Cafe
Time for the dinner portion of this post and here we are at Rhythm Kitchen in downtown Peoria.
This woman was kind enough to hold the door for us, thank you!
There’s the entrance to the Rhythm Kitchen and the sign says to seat yourself, so that’s exactly what we’ll do!
There’s the DJ set-up for the evening but we’re a little early, so Dusty 45’s isn’t there yet.
We’ll belly up to the bar and there’s our dining guest star for the evening, Jeff Putnam pointing to the Gipps Beer logo on his cap!
Great to see Jeff and wonderful to have him along for our dinner portion of the post!
Dylan was the friendly bartender on duty and he told me he’s a regular reader of MBIP, which I always love to hear!
He delivered me a beer and took our dinner order, so now we’ll take a few photos in here.
I love the New Orleans style and feel in here. It’s always festive and bright and puts you in a wonderful mood!
There’s the specials for the evening and I love to look at all the artwork on the walls by local artists.
I saw some familiar faces in my travels, there’s Janie and Stephan, Thomas James and his daughter, Loulabelle and Loren who I met back in April. Great to see her and everyone on this wonderful evening at the Rhythm Kitchen!
Meanwhile, back at the bar…
Dinner is served!
Jeff got the Crawfish Etouffee and I ordered the Blackened Chicken Pizza.
Both dishes look absolutely fabulous!
There’s Jeff digging into his dinner. He said the Crawfish Etouffee was an absolute delight.
The Blackened Chicken Pizza was so tasty!
I’ve never had the pizza at Rhythm Kitchen before, but I’ll definitely be trying it again, it was so delicious!
There’s Chef Jason and Julie who is the owner of the Rhythm Kitchen. I went back and thanked them both for the fabulous dinner!

Wax Wednesday @ The Rhythm Kitchen Starring Dusty 45’s
There’s DJ Dusty 45’s getting ready to start up the Wax Wednesday evening here at the Rhythm Kitchen Musical Cafe!

He played a wonderful set of eclectic and fun tunes this evening!
Dusty opened up his birthday gift that Craig picked out and he put it up on display.
