Okay, we’re wrapping up this three week saucy tour with an historical Peoria sauce: Agatucci’s Tiger Sauce.
If you’re a regular read of this blog, then you know that Agatucci’s is absolutely one of my favorite Peoria destinations. I love the place, the food, the owners, Tony and Danny and they are a legendary and wonderful Peoria landmark, restaurant, bar and historical Peoria location.
They have a homemade sauce called, Tiger Sauce and below is a video with Danny telling Phil Luciano the origins of this legendary sauce. (Note: Use the closed-captioning as the sound is a little garbled.)
So there’s the history of the infamous Agatucci’s Tiger Sauce. One crazy thing is that I’ve never tried it! I’ve probably eaten everything on the Agatucci’s menu and I’ve even invented my own personal cheeseburger there, but I’ve never tried the Tiger Sauce!
Well, today all that changes! I’ve ordered a pizza to bring home and I’m cooking up the last of the chicken wings and they will all be sauced up on Tiger Sauce!
Here we are at Agatucci’s on University Street. I hope you all appreciate the photo I take of the outside of this place because I have to take it while standing in the middle of University Street and dodging the traffic. I always almost get mowed over by drivers, but this is what I do for you, the faithful readers of MBIP!
I love the sign on the side of the building that they uncovered last year.
Okay, let’s go in and pick up our pizza and our Tiger Sauce.
I was told at the bar to go to the back and pick up the pizza back there.
And just like magic, there’s Tony with our pizza! Oh, oh, oh, it’s magic!
Okay, back to MBIP World Headquarters!

Back At MBIP World Headquarters!
There’s the magical bottle of Tiger Sauce!
I’ve got the last three chicken wings from the pack that started it all three weeks ago cooking in the oven.
Here they are out of the oven and I’ve drenched them in Tiger Sauce!
Wow, the Tiger Sauce turns out to be a tasty and delicious wing sauce. It’s got an Italian dressing flavor with a hint of garlic and it’s a nice subtle and tangy sauce!
Now we try it on the Agatucci’s pizza. I got a double cheese and extra well done pizza and it looks simply fabulous. Let’s get it all sauced up and…
I love this Tiger Sauce! It’s really a flavorful sauce and it livens the pizza up wonderfully! I’m sorry I never tried it before!
One thing about Tiger Sauce is that if you have a drug test, you can take this and amaze your employer by sprinkling it on pizza before you hand it over to be analyzed! Fun!

The Saucy Rating
I have to give this historical and flavorful sauce four out of four Otis Cambell’s! I’m declaring this the best sauce in Peoria and declaring this Tiger Sauce Day in Peoria!
I’d tell everyone to go to Agatucci’s and get some Tiger Sauce on this special day…but they’re closed on Tuesday’s. Cue the sad trombone and go and get some tomorrow!
This concludes our All Sauced Up Tour and we’ll see you in two weeks for the start of this summer’s hot dog tour! Hot diggity dog!
