Live, from Peoria, Illinois, it’s Saturday Night starring this week’s host, Donnelly’s Irish Pub with special guest stars, Amber, Joe, Julia, Drew, Kathy and Tim!
Now Please welcome this week’s host, Donnelly’s Irish Pub!
Here we are at this week’s Saturday night dinner destination, Donnelly’s Irish Pub.
Let’s go inside and start this week’s Saturday night adventure!
The foyer has some nice signage including an “Eat, Drink and Be Irish” sign, a couple of PJ Star articles featuring the original owners of The Shamrock, Molly and Terry Donnelley, a review of Donnelly’s after it moved to this location, which is now owned and opereated by Molly and Terry’s son, Ryan and a somewhat fuzzy Shamrock photo. That’s perfect because my memories of The Shamrock are a little fuzzy as well!
I decided to sit in the bar area and as I walked in I saw a couple of familiar faces in this booth over here…
It’s my friends and frequent guest stars, Amber and Joe, looking fabulous as always!
Our pretty and friendly waitress was Julia and here she is delivering me a bottle of Budweiser to start the evening off.
We took a look at the menus and there’s Julia taking our dinner orders.
Now it’s time for me to abandon Amber and Joe and take some photos in here while our dinners are being prepared.
The marble-topped bar in here is very impressive and there’s Drew who was the bartender on duty this Saturday evening. Our paths have crossed before and it was great to see him again!
They have an impressive number of beers on tap at the bar in here.
After I took this photo, someone called my name out and I looked over at the table to the side of the bar and saw…
Karen and Tim Kircher sitting over there!
Tim and I went to Bergan High School along with Tim’s brothers, Kelly and Tom and Karen was friends with my brother, Jim. Great to see both of them and share some memories!
They were nice enough to buy us a drink after I shot this photo, so thanks to Karen and Tim for that!
Here’s the spacious main dining room with lots of tables and comfortable booths line both sides of the walls in here.
And of course I have to take a photo of this communal table and part of the wall in here for my patent-pending Donnelly’s Irish Pub, “Oh Deer” photo.
Everybody all at once: “Oh deer!”
Meanwhile, back at our booth in the bar area…
Our dinner is starting to arrive. I asked Amber to choose our appetizer and she ordered up the Spinach and Artichoke dip and it was a delicious appetizer.
The chips were warm and homemade and the dip was a tasty and creamy start to our Saturday night dinner. I’ve never had this appetizer here and it was an excellent choice by Amber!
There’s a candid shot of Amber and Joe enjoying the appetizer order.
And now the main courses have arrived. We all got sandwiches and from the top: Amber got the Turkey and Havarti Cheese Sandwich on Toasted Seven Grain Bread, Joe got the Crispy Chicken Sandwich with Cilantro Ranch Slaw dipped in Buffalo Sauce and I got the Spicy Pork Tenderloin Sandwich.
Everything looks absolutely fabulous, time to dig in to this week’s Saturday night dinner!
Joe and Amber loved their sandwiches and check out Amber looking at me while thinking, “When are you going to eat dinner and quit taking photos of us?”
Okay, time for me to sample my dinner. I got the Spicy Pork Tenderloin dipped into Ryan’s house-made hot sauce. They have a small and large version of this sandwich and this is the small style, I can’t imagine how big the large one is!
I got it with onions and topped it off with a dollop of yellow mustard. It looks delicious and I can’t wait to take a bite, so here we go!
Wow, I’ve had their traditional tenderloin in here way back on the tenderloin tour in 2013, but this tenderloin is a spicy and wonderful treat!
It’s breaded and a thin and tasty tenderloin housed in bakery fresh toasted brioche bun and it is so delicious. This is the best tenderloin sandwich I’ve ever had and I highly recommend it to all of you tenderloin lovers out there!
Thanks to everyone at Donnelly’s for a delicious and fun Saturday evening and thanks to Amber and Joe for joining me for a festive Saturday night out on the town in Peoria, Illinois!
