Through the years, I’ve probably eaten everything on the menu at Jimmy’s Bar on Farmington Road. Except for one item, the grilled cheese sandwich!
Well that’s going to get corrected today as I head to Jimmy’s Bar to eat my twelfth grilled cheese sandwich on this cheesy eating tour!
Here we are at Jimmy’s Bar, one of the few Peoria bars that has the distinction of being featured on my New York City 365 bars blog and you can read that post by clicking right here. Hard to believe that was over 13 years ago!
Okay, let’s go in to one of the most beloved bars in West Peoria and beyond!
I love the bar in here and the grill is always open! Perfect for our grilled cheese sandwich of the week!
Gracie was bartending and served up a glass of iced tea with a beautiful smile!
My friend Artie was seated at the bar and introduced me to Katie. We have a party happening here and we haven’t even introduced you to the Grilled Cheese Guest Of Honor…
My friend, Michelle!
She’s looking fabulous as always, and I always enjoy hanging out with her and catching up on things.
Some of you may know this, but Michelle was the first person to ever recognize me from the MBIP Blog way back in 2013! We’ve been friends ever since!
We put in our lunch order and then I proceeded to take some photos around and at the bar.
There’s an Elvis lamp and a bust at the bar and Elvis the bust briefly left the building, but you can read here about how he got back!
There’s a covered beer garden in the back and tables outside for spring and summer dining and drinking!
Meanwhile, back at our table, Grace is delivering our lunches along with a magnificent smile!
Michelle got an order of the deep fried green beans and Jimmy’s signature dipping sauce.
She said they were delicious and yummy!
And here’s the star of this week’s cheesy post, Jimmy’s grilled cheese sandwich! It looks fantastic!
All of Jimmy’s food is superb, but for some reason I was expecting just your standard, run-of-the-mill grilled cheese, which would have been fine, but this looks like a gourmet grilled cheese!
Let’s dive into this impressive grilled sandwich!
Wow, this is a grilled and buttery delight!
The bread is a grilled and buttered hoagie style roll and there’s a plentiful amount of creamy and rich melted cheese. It’s a melted mixture of cheddar and Swiss and this is definitely a great and gourmet grilled cheese sandwich!
What a wonderful grilled and cheesy feast!
Annie was heading out, but she stopped over to our table and say hi. Hello Annie, you’re looking fabulous as always!
And then the main-man stopped by the table, Jimmy Spears! He posed for the MBIP Camera with Michelle and it’s always wonderful to see Jimmy! One of the nicest guys in Peoria!
I complimented him on the sandwich and apologized for thinking it was going to be a standard grilled cheese! That sandwich was anything but standard and you’ll find out when you seen the rating below!

Jimmy’s Bar gets an excellent rating of four slices! Right now, there’s a three-way tie for the best grilled cheese of this tour: Kenny’s Westside Pub, Untamed Chef and now Jimmy’s Bar!
