I had a lot of suggestions thrown out there for places that have grilled cheese on their menu and Donnelly’s Irish Pub was one the got more than a few suggestions. I’ve had about everything on their menu, but I’ve never had the grilled cheese.
All that is about to change as we begin our second cheesy week of this grilled cheese tour!
Here we are at Donnelly’s Irish Pub and it’s a gray and rainy day. Perfect weather for a grilled cheese sandwich!
Let’s go in the front door…

The bar! I’m dining alone, so let’s go get settled in for our second grilled cheese sandwich of this 23 week tour!
Dan-O was on bartender duty and he took my order for a grilled cheese sandwich while posing for the MBIP Camera. What a multi-tasker!
There’s the beers on tap, including a lone Guinness tap.
Tables and booths are opposite the bar for your dining pleasure!
Speaking of dining pleasure, here’s the large dining room. I love all the colored lights in here!
There’s Irish-inspired artwork on the walls.
More dining tables are tucked away in this back room.
And of course I had to take a photo of this corner for my patent-pending “Oh deer” shot.
So here we go: “Oh deer!”
It never gets old…well maybe for you but never for me!
Meanwhile, back at the bar…
It’s grilled cheese time! The sandwich comes with a side dish and I got their homemade potato chips. They’re crisp, tasty and have just the right amount of salt on them!
Now, on to the star of the show, Donnelly’s Grilled Cheese Sandwich!
The sandwich is made with Texas toast, buttered and grilled to a golden brown. You can pick your cheese and I went with cheddar and this looks like a classic grilled cheese sandwich! Let’s dig in!
Wow, this is a wonderful, cheesy and creamy grilled cheese sandwich! Buttery, rich and as you can see, they don’t skimp on the cheese!

As I said, this was a classic grilled cheese with all of the basic ingredients, Grilled and buttered bread and whole lot of rich and creamy cheese!
I’ll give this three and a quarter slices.
A very good example of a classic grilled cheese sandwich!
