Live, from Peoria, Illinois, it’s Saturday Night starring this week’s host, Sunny House Chinese Restaurant and featuring special guest star, Wendy!

Now please welcome from West Main Street in Peoria, Illinois, Sunny House Chinese Restaurant!

2. hereweare_9-13-21.jpeg

Here we are at Sunny House Chinese Restaurant on Main Street. They opened up about a year and a half ago and I’ve been meaning to stop by for a Saturday night dinner and try it out.

Well, as both Rod Stewart and Neil Young have sung, tonight’s the night!

3. open_9-13-21.jpg

I love the hand-painted logo in the window!

The “OPEN” sign is blazing in the front window, so let’s go in and start this Saturday night out on the town!

4. insidebooth_9-13-21.jpg

Wow, it’s so nice in here! I love the paneled walls and the wooden floor!

I decided to park myself in at this booth and take a gander at the menu that’s on the table.

5. menu_9-13-21.jpg

As you can see, the menu is extensive and there’s a lot of interesting choices listed.

They have lunch and dinner here and they’re open Tuesday through Sunday.

6. wendy_9-13-21.jpeg

This is Wendy, the owner of Sunny House.

She’s very welcoming and friendly and told me that this restaurant has had a tough history so far.

They opened up on March 10th, 2020, the week that the pandemic blew into town. A week later they had to shut down and she told me that business has been sporadic ever since.

She took my order and let’s see what kind of food they serve and if I should recommend it to the MBIP audience!

I’m guessing this is going to be a hidden gem on West Main Street!

7. tourone_9-13-21.jpg

She told me to feel free to take photos in here, so here’s the booths on one side and tables line the walls on the other side.

There’s a big circular dining table over there and there’s a singular table for dining in the front that overlooks the cars cruising by on Main Street.

8. frontdeskcond_9-13-21.jpg

There’s the front desk where you can pick up orders to go and they have plenty of condiments to take with you!

9. artchandelier_9-13-21.jpg

I love the art on the walls and the atmosphere in here is very nice.

Check out the fancy and sparkly chandelier hanging overhead!

Here’s a shot from the back of the restaurant.

11. hotsoursoup_9-13-21.jpg

As I return to my booth, the food for tonight’s dinner has started to arrive.

The first course is Hot and Sour Soup and it is so delicious! A perfect and savory start to this Chinese meal!

12. crabrangoon_9-13-21.jpg

Next I sampled the Crab Rangoon appetizer. A pro-tip here is to add some spicy hot mustard to the dipping sauce to give it a little more kick.

These were crispy and tasty on the outside and so rich and creamy as I bit into them and tasted the delightful crab filling. These were out-of-sight delicious!

13. maincourse_9-13-21.jpg

And here’s the main course: The spicy Beef and Shrimp dish.

It comes with a side of fried rice and it looks so wonderful and tasty!

14. soysaucerice_9-13-21.jpg

I added some soy sauce and plopped some of the fried rice on top and it’s time to dig in to this fantastic looking main course to tonight’s meal!

15. delicious_9-13-21.jpg

Oh my God, this is so tasty and delicious!

The shrimp is grilled to perfection and is juicy and tasty. The beef strips are seasoned and so tender, they melt in your mouth! And the grilled Jalapeno circles add heat and a nice spicy flavor to the dish!

This was such a great meal!

I feel sorry that Wendy is struggling somewhat here, so let’s show her some MBIP love and support this restaurant on Main Street.

They’re closed on Monday’s, but starting tomorrow, please stop by here for lunch or dinner and let’s keep this local restaurant alive!

I guarantee you’ll be happy you did, my meal was beyond delicious!
