Way back in October of 2014 I ventured over to Hammer’s Bar & Restaurant in Batonville to check out their homemade pizza and chicken wings and met two special guests that day.

Whoosh, here we are at Hammer’s Bar & Restaurant in Baronville, Illinois

There’s a nice bar in here and there’s the owner Brad, who’s a former star player from the Peoria Rivermen Hockey Team!

This bar and restaurant has been operating since 1994 when another Peoria Rivermen player, Bob "The Hammer" Fleming opened it up. Bob moved to Las Vegas and his former teammate and fellow Hockey Hall of Fame member, Brad took it over along with his wife Joann.

I met two special guest stars this day and they are, Vic Nasty and Big Perm, from the Peoria based podcast, The Big Perm Show.

I used to be a guest on the show and it looks like the show is on hiatus now. Hopefully it’ll come back soon.

It was good to finally meet these two guys back then!

There’s the menu and let’s check out some of the food here, I had heard good things!

I started off with an order of the chicken wings and they were unbelievable! They serve up the whole wing and these are tasty delights!

These are blackened BBQ wings, which Brad told me are the most popular style in the bar. There's over a half dozen styles you can choose from on the menu.

The main course was the pizza and it looks so tasty and delicious!

This is a sausage pizza with extra cheese.

The crust is in between thin and thick and has a nice chewy consistency to it. The toppings are fresh and plentiful and the sauce is tangy and tasty. It's a great pizza!
