One of the  very first posts that ever appeared on MBIP was a Shop Hop tour of ACME Comics almost eight years ago to this day. Click here to check that out.

Christmas is less then ten days away and ACME is the perfect shop to find lots of fun and unique gifts, let’s go and take a look around at this store that’s been locally owned and operated by Bob Gordon since 1991!

Here we are at ACME Comics located off of Glen Avenue.

The sign on the side of the building was drawn and designed by my brother Jim and it’s always nice to see that!

Now let’s go in and see what’s happening inside.

As I walked in I noticed someone familiar behind the front counter, ACME owner, operator and all around good guy, Bob Gordon!

Bob showed me some fun stuff in the store including a Redd Foxx album that my brother Jim and I had in the past, an original Capt. Jinks and Salty Sam drawing, an Acme beer sign and a vintage poster from a concert at the legendary Barn starring The Byrds from 1971!

Check out the stores that were selling tickets, I remember No Hassel on Main Street and never knew there was a Hi-Fi One Stop in Pekin!

Okay, let’s take a look around inside of ACME Comics. You need to be socially distant in here and if you forgot to wear a mask, no worries, there’s a whole pile of them at the front counter!

Acme is known for its inventory of comics and as you can see, it’s very impressive!

That last photo sounds like an X-rated talk show!

Here’s a shot from the back of the store.

In addition to comics there’s also a nice selection of vinyl albums, DVD’s and VHS tapes for sale in here.

I was going to make a Beta joke here, but figured I was the only one old enough to get that reference so we’ll just keep moving along here.

Check out the used books, action figures and movie posters for sale in here.

11. localart_12-17-20.jpg

Bob supports local artists like Jeff Carlson with his Mani-Yack art and Jeremiah Lambert. Very cool!

When in doubt, you can always purchase a gift certificate!
