It’s really hard to believe that I’ve been doing this blog for five years now! On December 10th, 2012 I hit the “publish” button and put up the very first blog post here on MBIP. That post explained about my move back to Peoria from New York and I ended that post with some photos of a toast from Mike’s Tavern. And so I thought for this fifth anniversary I’d go back to where the first one ended: Mike’s Tavern!
Of course I had to get a cake for this obligatory fifth anniversary celebration so of course I asked The MBIP Official Cake Artist and Baker, Kayla to make it for us at Trefzger's Bakery! Kayla did an amazing job with the cake, as always! And this is the part of this obligatory post where I put in the obligatory link for Kayla's band Thetah! Thanks for the wonderful work, Kayla!
Here we are at Mike’s Tavern where I took pictures for the first post here on MBIP. Some things never change and Mike’s Tavern is like a pleasant slice of yesterday that never goes away and it’s why I love this place. Thanks to Shannon and Roy for keeping it alive after Tony retired and left them the keys to the joint.
Here we are inside and this is Luke who’s behind the bar and has the responsibility of serving the drinks and the Butch’s Pizza for the evening! Thanks in advance for keeping this end of the party rolling Luke and you should check out Luke’s fine writing here at his website: The Luke Norris Experience.
And now,The MBIP Obligatory Fifth Anniversary Party begins!

I really want to thank everyone who showed up at the party and everyone who’s reading this right now. I feel lucky to have found something to work on in my life that I feel passionate about and even luckier still that people take their valuable time to look at it. That means the world to me and it kind of amazes me on a daily basis that all of you click on here and take some time to look at what I’ve put up here on the MBIP blog. Thank you all so very much and we’ll see you all tomorrow!
