Live, from Peoria, Illinois, it’s Saturday Night, with your hosts, Amber, Joe, Tallis and Thurston and special guest stars, Dave “Elvis” Stovall, Trefzger’s Bakery and assorted esteemed birthday party guests! Now please welcome this week’s hosts, Amber, Joe, Tallis and Thurston!
The day for Amber’s party started here at Trefzger’s Bakery (Note: Trefzger's last day to be open in this location is October 8th and then the brand new Trefzger's opens on October 13th!) September is not only Amber’s birthday month, but some of the other party guests had birthday’s this month as well, so we thought it would be cool to have a cake for all the birthday people at the party. I talked to Jeff and Martha, who own Trefzger's and they said they could make some special cakes for the party, so let’s go inside and see what they came up with.
As usual, there’s a crowd in here, but the line moves fast and before you know it, our number was up and Gabrielle previewed Amber’s cake which looks amazing! Trefzger’s can do all kinds of specialty cakes and you’ll see this one and all of the others later on in the post, but they did an amazing job with this and the five other cakes for the party! Gabrielle helped carry the cakes out and here they are with Amber in her basement. Okay, time to let her get ready for the party and we’ll be back in a little bit!
A Little Bit Later...
Okay, it’s later in the afternoon and we’re back at Amber and Joe’s house and check out the front yard deer, he’s all decked out for the party, but before we begin the birthday celebration, there’s also something else to celebrate today, because...
Joe asked Amber to marry her this weekend and they’re now officially engaged! This is very exciting news and congratulations to them! Amber’s a taxidermy artist and in honor of the wedding proposal, Joe got them this taxidermy mice wedding mantle piece! That is so cool and I’m looking forward to the wedding! I’ll be the guy there bugging both of you taking pictures the whole time!
For once I’m not the first person at the party, Brent and Danielle are here in the backyard and there’s another host of the party, Tallis! He’s a great dog and he put down his stick to pose for the MBIP Camera! Thurston is the other host, but he was lounging inside and he’s kind of camera shy (he's a little sensitive about his weight, but don't say anything) so I left him alone.
Dueling Presents With Amber and Danielle!
Danielle’s birthday is just a little over a week away from Amber’s, so last year I started a tradition of getting them dueling birthday presents and here they are opening them! Some of the presents included a rubber chicken, Chuckles candy and a monogrammed beer koozie! And check it out, Danielle’s matched her dress, a birthday miracle! Happy birthday Amber and Danielle!
Meanwhile, Tallis is relaxing in the dirt and once again put his stick down for a photo! Thurston has now retreated into the back room and is counting the hours till this party is over!
Other Guests Arrive!
As the afternoon rolls along other guests arrive and I pester them to pose for the MBIP Camera. That’s Jen and Kim in the top photo, who came all the way from Buffalo Grove for the party. Next is Jon, who was the microwave chef at the first Amber Birthday Party and there’s Amber’s parent’s, Chuck and Diane, I always love seeing them, they’re really wonderful people! Below them are Ryan and Natalie, then Adam and that's Jackie in the bottom photo, who came from Chicago with her husband Andy for the party. Jackie and I share the same birthday, so she gets a cake too! It was great to finally meet my birthday friend!
Elvis Pulls Up!
As everyone was having fun at the party, I saw an Elvismobile pull up and it’s none other than Peoria’s very own Elvis, Dave Stovall! Dave’s been doing his Elvis Experience act in Peoria for years now and is the most in-demand Elvis performer in the Central Illinois area. We’ve been friends for years and he agreed to put on a show for Amber’s birthday! No one knows this is happening and Jackie's husband, Andy came out to help us set up while everyone is outside in the back yard. There’s Dave getting ready in the back bathroom and it’s just about showtime!
Dave Stovall’s Elvis Experience!
Everyone came inside and Amber got the chair of honor as Dave came out and serenaded her with a couple of Elvis songs and them sang Happy Birthday to her! Dave sings live and has impressive speakers and equipment and it’s just like The King is back and performing in the living room! It’s really entertaining and a so much fun!
Dave prepared a special wedding song in honor of Amber and Joe’s engagement and it was really a nice touch for the party!
After the wedding song, Dave did several more Elvis numbers and it was such an impressive show and it made for a great time! Everybody really enjoyed it and thanks to Dave for putting on this concert for Amber’s birthday party, it really was special and we all loved it! Dave’s contact information is at the end of the post if you’d like to have him appear at your party! And now, it’s time for...
After Elvis had left the building, it was time to cut the birthday cakes! The birthday recipients are lined up in the second picture and they are from left: Joe, Diane, Jon, Danielle and Jackie! Below them is Amber showing her birthday cake, it’s a Jack Daniel’s bottle with taxidermy mice on it. It’s hard to see, but the mice have given her a piece of cheese that says, “Happy Birthday, Amber,” on it! Trefzger’s Bakery did a genius job with these cakes!
Here’s Amber and Jen lighting candles on her Amber’s birthday cake and we all sang, Happy Birthday to her and then...
She blew out the candles and it’s time to cut the cake!
If you’ve never had a Trefzger’s birthday cake, you’re really missing out! It’s the best cake in the world, and they can make you any kind of specialty cake you can imagine! And check it out, even the mice on the cake are edible!
This was such a fun party! Thanks to Dave Stovall for a wonderful Elvis Experience performance and to Trefzger’s for the delicious and amazing cakes! Special thanks to Amber for having another fun birthday party and to everyone who showed up, great to see all of you! Happy birthday, Amber, love you and congratulations to you and Joe on the engagement and upcoming wedding! We’ll see you all tomorrow!
