Okay, so Friday, I went to a wedding and knew that would be Monday’s post and I thought maybe I could get a little ahead of myself by going somewhere on Saturday and covering that for today and maybe take Sunday off. Well, Saturday’s stop didn’t work out and I had a bunch of stuff to do Sunday afternoon and evening.

But I needed to get something done, so I found a bar that’s opens up early on Sunday and that’s the place for today’s stop. And today’s stop is Veteran’s Pub & Pizza on Adams! They open up at 10AM, every stinking day of the week, so that’s today’s early destination!

Bar Number 223: Veterans Pub & Pizza, Sunday, September 27, 2026

Here we are at Veterans Pub & Pizza on Adams Street in Peoria.

This is an historical building that originally housed the Farmers & Mechanics State Bank of Averyville and then later became the Anchor Club. It became Veterans Pub & Pizza well over a decade ago.

Let’s go inside and see what’s happening in there on this Sunday afternoon.

They’ve got a nice bar in here and there’s some seats here at the end of it, so let’s snag one and get settled in for our Sunday visit in here.

Amy was the pretty and friendly bartender on duty and here she is serving me up an ice-cold bottle of Budweiser. Amy said she’s been working here for over 12 years, so she’s a veteran of Veterans Pub! Great to meet her!

The back of the bar has a nice inventory of booze and lots of dollar bills on the wall.

Veterans Pub & Pizza is known for their pizza and we checked that out back in 2014, but they also serve up other items including tacos on Tuesday, wings and this new chicken special.

There’s tables behind the bar and over in this corner to sit and enjoy the food and drinks in here.

Here’s a pool table draped with an American flag.

Veterans Pub is a tribute to the Military Veterans that have served this country, so you’ll see plenty of flags and military items on display in here.

This back room has more tables and gaming machines line the wall if you’re in the mood to do a little gambling.

As I mentioned, there’s lots of memorabilia and tributes to military veterans in here, which is very nice.

And speaking of military veterans, here’s the owner of Veterans Pub & Pizza, Darrell Amerman, who’s not only a military veteran, he’s the Commander of the local Chapter 175 of the Military Order of the Purple Heart. He’s also a very nice guy and I had a wonderful conversation with him.
