Casa Agave opened up in Peoria Heights last year and I’ve had lunch and dinner in there, but I’ve never just sat at the bar and had a drink or two.

All that changes today as I’m meeting a friend at the bar there for a drink or two! See how we resolve things here? It’s off to Casa Agave we go!

Here we are at Casa Agave in Peoria Heights, on a Monday afternoon. Let’s go in and see what’s happening in there.

There’s the front desk, which is made out of tequila kegs near the front door. You go here to be seated at a table, but we’re not sitting at a table, we’re going to sit at…

The bar!

They have an impressive bar in here, so let’s grab a seat and get settled in on this fine August afternoon.

I met my friend Bill Knight here at the bar and it’s great to see him again. I’ve known Bill for decades and Bill’s been a writer and editor in and around Peoria for years.

He’s currently writing and with the Community Word independent monthly newspaper. You can read the paper online or pick up a print copy at these locations.

Bill brought me a gift book, the Rick Johnson Reader, which he edited back in 2007. I’ve always been a fan of Rick’s writing and I appreciate getting this book, thanks so much Bill!

Okay, time for a drink…or two!

Lilli was the pretty and friendly bartender on duty and here she is serving me up a margarita with a gorgeous smile! It was wonderful to meet her and chat with her. She’s a fun and attentive bartender!

The back of the bar is vibrant, colorful and loaded with decorative items and bottles.

There’s the ten beers on tap back there.

Tables, chairs and a long, dark blue leather booth line the back wall opposite the bar and there’s potted cactus plants situated above them.

Wooden tequila kegs hang from various spots on the walls in here and there’s a Don Juluo 1942 one up here. Tequila!

We didn’t eat in here today, but you can see some of the food offerings they have by clicking on this link when I had dinner in here last year with my friends Amber and Joe.

It’s a very nice dining room, but we’re not going to 365 dining rooms, we’re going to 365…

So it’s back to the bar for another margarita!
