I recently read that the oldest pub in Washington, Illinois is Parish’s Pub. They’ve been in business since 1972 and I’ve never been there.
Time to change all of that as we head over to Parish’s Pub and make it the 194th stop of this 365 bars tour!

Bar Number 194: Parish’s Pub, Tuesday, August 18, 2026
Here we are at Parish’s Pub in Washington, Illinois. They have two signs and two doorways, but I believe this is the one you enter in, let’s try it out…
Yep, we chose the right door and we are in and there’s the bar over there. Let’s snag a seat and get settled in for the evening!
Dani’s the pretty and friendly bartender on duty and here she is serving me up a 16 ounce can of Old Style beer.
Dani confirmed the fact that this is Washington’s longest running pub and it’s been in business since 1972! Dani said she’s coming up on her 20th anniversary of working here. She must’ve started working here in her teens!
There’s the back of the bar and the quartet of beers on tap back there.
The cooler behind the bar is well stocked with beer, seltzer and other beverages.
They’ve got a Budweiser trolley hanging over the bar, always the sign of a classic bar!
There’s the daily specials offered up in here.
They’ve got a classic shuffleboard table lined up on the wall opposite the bar.
Here’s a shot from the end of the nicely polished wooden bar in here.
There’s a nice gaming room over here with gaming machines, two pool tables and tables and chairs lined up along the far wall in here.
Meanwhile, back at the bar…
The clock on the wall says it’s time for one more beer and then time to hit the road!
