A Guy Walks Into 365 Bars…Again! Bar Number 233: The Witches Brew Inn

by MBIP

Theresa and Paul McHenry host an annual super-fun HalloWING Thing party in Washington, Illinois every year in October and I’ve gone for the last two years. Here’s a link to HalloWING Thing 2024 party and here’s the 2025 party.

Last Saturday was the 2026 HalloWING Thing shindig and luckily, there’s a bar in their garage called the Witches Brew Inn and so we’ll go and christen that bar as the 233rd bar of this 365 tour! Let’s go!

Bar Number 233: Witches Brew Inn, Saturday, October 10, 2026

Here we are at the McHenry Halloween House! This is one amazing Halloween presentation!

The McHenry family made most of the Halloween items here on the lawn. As cool as it looks in the daytime, wait till you see the photos from when the sun goes down and it’s the witching hour!

Keep on scrolling and check them out at the end of this post!

The party happens in their spacious garage and driveway back here. Let’s go in and see what’s happening.

There’s the Witches Brew Inn bar and I see a familiar face behind it…

That’s Theresa behind the bar serving up a can of Bud Light with a beautiful smile and there’s her husband Paul looking great!

They’re the hosts of the annual HalloWING Thing and once again I thank them for inviting me and throwing this yearly party that celebrates two wonderful things in life: Halloween and chicken wings!

The bar is decorated with all kinds of fun Halloween decorations including HalloWING thing beer koozies from the past and here’s the 2026 HalloWING Thing koozie!

Here’s a shot of the Witches Brew Inn bar from the other side.

There’s Theresa’s dad, Lyle enjoying the party, people are gathered out on the driveway enjoying the festivities and I sat at a table with, from left: AJ, Heather, Nathaniel and Courtney. Courtney and Nathaniel’s baby’s face has been blurred to protect the innocent child from the awful internet!

There’s the food table and as you can see, it’s quite a spread!

Here’s the nine chicken wing entrees that were brought by some of the guests in attendance today. Everyone samples them and then places a vote for their favorite wings of the selection.

There’s other food on the buffet table as well, as I said, this is quite the abundant spread of food!

I got in line and there’s the nine chicken wings.

All of them were so delicious and had such unique spices and flavors. It was a real chicken wing feast and thanks to everyone who brought them to the party!

There’s everyone enjoying the different styles of chicken wings. After everyone ate, they voted and then…

Theresa and her son, RJ announced the winners. And the winners are:

Third Place: Nathaniel Sheets (Witching Hour) and Chas Killion (Sazerac Boubon Maple) tied for third place.

Second Place: Chris Conley (Pickle Wings.)

Kid’s Choice: Chris Conley (both Buffalooo and Pickle Wings) and Chas Killion (Sazerac Boubon Maple) tied for the Kid’s Choice.

First Place: Chris Conley (Buffalooo.)

Congratulations to all the winners and thanks again to everyone who prepared and brought these delicious and tasty chicken wings to the party!

This was such a fun afternoon and evening and thanks to Theresa and Paul for yet another super fun HalloWING Thing party!

Here’s the night time shots I promised! This is the coolest Halloween house I’ve ever seen!

The McHenry’s encourage people to stop by and take pictures and enjoy this fabulous tribute to Halloween. If you put the pictures up on social media, all they ask is that you add the hashtag: #mchenrysnightmare.

The address is: 208 South Wood Street in Washington, Illinois if you’d like to stop by and see this impressive display of Halloween magic in person!
