Sarah Marie Dillard has done so much for Peoria’s music/singing/songwriting community.
Of course she’s a singer and songwriter both as a solo artist and with her band Sarah & The Underground.
She also founded and is the permanent host of Peoria’s most eclectic and fun Mobile Open Mic Community that has a new show at various locations every Tuesday evening, called “The Listening Room.”
Sarah’s the Emcee for the yearly Blue Ridge Community Farm Fall Concert Series, she’s also the Entertainment Consultant for the 3300 Event Center and she’s also the Worship Coordinator for the Third Chance Bar & Lounge. Whew!
In addition to all of that she recently started a new weekly spin-off show from her “Listening Room” open mic shows and this is called “The Listening Room” Director’s Cut. Instead of multiple performersm it’s Sarah and a featured musical and songwriting artist talking about singing/songwriting and performing live music. This happens every Thursday night from 6pm to around 8pm, at the Third Chance Bar & Lounge in the 3300 Event Center.
Last week my friend and musician, Kathy Folkulele was the Spotlight Artist and I went and it was such a fun, musical evening. Keep on scrolling to see my photos and memories from last week’s Director’s Cut show.
Here we are the 3300 Event Center and the entrance for the Third Chance Bar & Lounge is over here to the other side of the building. Let’s go in and see what’s happening!
There’s the bar and lounge area and behind the bar is the smiling face of Brian, the Operations Manager here.
Brian said that things are going great and that he was excited about tonight’s show. I am too, let’s go into the stage area and check it out.
The stage has been moved to the other side of the room and it looks intimate and inviting! I love the chairs and the comfortable look of the stage.
There’s the Spotlight Artist of the evening, Kathy Folkulele with her husband Steve and there’s Kathy with the host of the evening, Sarah Marie Dillard.
Looks like it’s just about showtime, folks!
And this week’s Director’s Cut show begins.
The show includes Sarah discussing songwriting techniques and inspirations with the featured artist, Kathy! Then each of them began to entertain us with their delightful and superb original music!
I went to the back of the room to take these photos to showcase the intimate and nice feel of the Third Chance Lounge area. It’s a spectacular place for a show!
This was a wonderful showcase for both of these super-talented musicians and artists!
It was fantastic to hear the original music these two have written and created and the banter between the songs was delightful and entertaining to listen to.
