I’ve got a big announcement today and that announcement is that we’ve got a brand new Marty Monologues show coming up in about five weeks!
The new show is called: “You’ve Got Jail - Three Tails From Three Jails.”
It’s going to happen at Kenny’s Westside Pub on Sunday, November 9th!
——
I’ve been thrown in jail five times in my life. I’m not proud of this and I’m certainly not trying to glorify the fact that I’ve been thrown in jail five times through the years. They were all for stupid-ass shit I’ve done in my life and none of them are pleasant memories!
However, three of those times do have a good story to go with them and that’s what this show is all about!
Starting next week, I’ll be devoting two or three posts a week about this new upcoming Marty Monologues show.
Today, I wanted to focus on the artwork done for the show’s poster and social media pages. All of the artwork, design and branding for the past Marty Monologues shows has been created by my friend, Chelsie Tamms and this show is no exception.
Chelsie always comes up with a fantastic design and brand idea for these shows and I’m always blown away by with what she comes up with and this time she really hit the ball out of the park!
I first met Chelsie back in February of 2017 and here’s a link to the MBIP blog post I did about Chelsie and her artwork and design talents. I was really impressed with her work and her passion and drive she puts into her brand design business, Lettering Works.
About a year later I had an idea to do a monologue show but I had no idea about how to put together a logo, brand the show and have artwork for stores, the theater and social media.
The first person I thought of was Chelsie and we had lunch, I told her my idea and like magic she put came up with a logo that used my face and was a perfect branding device for the show!
I was thrilled with what she came up with and it really added a cool dimension to the show and it made it appear I actually knew what I was doing, when in reality I was just kind of winging it and hoping I would be able to pull this show off!
Chelsie’s art and design really added to my confidence and helped make that show a success like I never could’ve imagined!
Here’s the posters for the first two Marty Monologues shows that Chelsie designed.
The first one on the left had no theme to it, but the one on the left was a show devoted to three monologues and about growing up in the ’60’s and Chelsea captured that psychedelic era and spirit perfectly!
The next Marty Monologues focused on a trio of 15 minutes of fame that has happened to me and Chelsie came up with an Andy Warhol soup can design that was genius!
When the world shut down in 2020, my friends, Amber and Joe and I decided to do a socially distant show in Amber and Joe’s basement for an audience of one and Chelsea came through with Covid-inspired art that once again was letter perfect, pun intended!
Well, Chelsie did it again for the upcoming jail-themed show. She got all Barney Fife on me and put me behind bars! All of the sudden I feel like Otis!
This was yet another perfect Marty Monologues design and I thank Chelsie for working on all of these shows with me through the years! She’s really added a professional yet fun look for the Marty Monologues brand and I thank Chelsie for her wonderful branding design and artwork and for her friendship!
Check out Chelsie’s website right here: Lettering Works.
Stay tuned for more updates next week and when and where tickets will go on sale!
Oh, I also started a brand new Marty Monologues facecrack page, so feel free to follow me there if you are so inclined!
