I was Googling around and looking for a new place to pick up our Friday snacks from and I found this place:
Smaks Market & Da Catch! I’ve never been to this place and I like the line they put out there: “want a snack we got your back.”
Okay, they could use a copy editor, but we’re looking for snacks, so let’s go and see if they really do have our backs!
Off we go in search of snackable items!
Here we are and I was a little concerned when I saw that there was a blind covering the windows in the door.
I went up and my fear was confirmed when I found out the door was locked.
I saw another store on my way here, so let’s go check that out. Time to improvise here on MBIP!
Here we are at grocery store number two on Wisconsin Avenue.
The sign says, “Tienda Mexicana” which translates to “Mexican Store.” The store’s name is Carniceria Roman. They look like they’re open, let’s go inside and check out this Mexican store!
Wow, it’s a snacker’s paradise in here! This place is loaded with snack items and most of them are Mexican snacks I’ve never seen before!
I love the mural on the side of the building!
Okay, let’s head on back to MBIP World Headquarters and see what we’re snacking on this week!

MBIP World Headquarters Snacking Area
Here’s our trio of Mexican snacks. Time to start snacking the day away!
——
Mexican Snack Number One: Papitas Caseras
Papitas Caseras translates to “Homemade Potato Chips” which is what I suspected was in the bag. Let’s try them out!
These Mexican potato chips are thinner than American chips. They also have a slight vinegar after-taste to them. But all in all, pretty similar to American potato chips and they are a tasty snack.
——
Mexican Snack Number Two: Party Botanero Mix
This is a Mexican snack mix with assorted crackers and nuts. And speaking of nuts, it says, “Win Nuts” at the bottom of the bag and I don’t know if this is a contest or the kind of nuts that are in the bag. Pretty nutty!
I thought that this would be a spicy snack mix, but there’s not much spice or flavor happening here. This was a bit of a disappointment, so let’s just keep moving along here.
——
Mexican Snack Number Three: Bimbo Nito
I wondered what “Bimbo Nito” meant, so I went to the Google Translate page and it translated it into English that said, “Bimbo Nito!” Mind, blown!
Wow, these are packaged nicely! It comes in a tray with each snack item housed in a plastic wrap. Let’s try one out!
I thought that these would be like Twinkies, but they are bigger and have a cake-like quality with chocolate icing and filling. These are quite a sweet and impressive treat!
So the snack mix was a bit of a disappointment, but the potato chips were tasty and the Bimbo’s were a sweet and satisfying snack. So all in all, this Mexican snacking session was kind of like a Meatloaf song!
Vaya con Dios and Happy Snacking everyone!
