All Sauced Up! A Three Week Tour - Week Number Two: Butch’s All Purpose Hot Sauce/Marinade

by MBIP

If you live here in Peoria, you no doubt have eaten Butch’s Pizza…if you haven’t, what in the hell is wrong with you?

Butch’s is the best frozen pizza in Peoria and beyond and it’s made right here in the neighboring city of Morton, Illinois, which is also home to MBIP Pal and Wheelman, Scott Turley. For those of you who don’t know, Scott fell and broke his hip a couple weeks ago and he just got out of the hospital last Saturday. He’s mending at home, so there won’t be another Scott Turley Road Trip for a while. So I want to take a moment to wish the Wheelman all the best! Heal up quickly, Scott!

Okay, back to the blog, Butch’s makes fantastic pizza, but they also make a sauce, it’s called Butch’s All Purpose Hot Sauce/Marinade and that’s this week’s sauce that we’re going to sample.

Let’s go to a place you’re probably sick of seeing on this blog to go and get a bottle and a Butch’s Pizza!

Here we are at the place I repeatedly stop at to get various foods for this blog, Schnucks Grocery Store.

The Butch’s Hot Sauce and Marinade is right down this aisle and we’ll make a quick stop in the frozen food section also grab a Butch’s Pizza.

Okay, back to the MBIP World Headquarters to cook up this saucy meal!

MBIP World Headquarters Kitchen And Cooking Area

In addition to the pizza, I’m cooking up some chicken wings just like last week. This week I added some chili powder to the flour and I think I’ll cook then a little longer for some added crispiness.

Instead of the cupcake tin, I just crunched up some foil and put them on top of that so they wouldn’t lay flat on the tin.

The chicken wings cooked for 45 minutes at 400 degrees. For the last 15 minutes I put the Butch’s Pizza in the oven and we had a little synchronized cooking happening.

I chose a thin crust Butch’s Sausage & Cheese Pizza because that’s a classic Butch’s flavor!

Okay, the pizza and wings are out of the oven and I’ve plated them up for this evening’s saucy dinner, just one thing is missing…

The sauce!

Here’s the Butch’s Hot Sauce and Marinade and I’ve decided to pour it into this container and we’ll heat it up in the microwave. This is going to be a true hot sauce!

We’ll start tonight’s sauced-up dinner by saucing up the chicken wings. I spooned some of the heated up Butch’s Sauce on them and now let’s try them out.

Wow, the Butch’s Hot Sauce was really tasty on these wings! And the wings were even better than last week. I cooked them for 45 minutes at 400 degrees and then I turned the broiler on them and the pizza to crisp them up.

They were crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside and the Butch’s Hot Sauce added a tangy and zippy flavor level to them. I’ve never tried this sauce on anything but a Butch’s Pizza and it turns out that it’s a really flavorful wing sauce!

Now it’s time to sauce up the Butch’s pizza!

I usually just sprinkle the Butch’s Hot Sauce on the pizza, but for today’s saucy dinner, I thought I’d take it to another level and actually dip the slice into the vat of Butch’s heated up hot sauce.

This turned out to be so flavorful and tasty! I’ve found a new way to enjoy Butch’s Pizza and this is a super saucy and sassy new way to enjoy Butch’s Pizza!

I’m eating alone, so I double-dipped the slice and this was a wonderful and saucy way to enjoy Butch’s Pizza!

The Saucy Rating

The Butch’s Hot Sauce was a tasty wing sauce and it worked wonderfully as a dunking dip for the pizza! I’ll give it a high rating of three and three quarters Otis Campbells!
