Art In Progress…@ Younger Than Yesterday Records

Last week Craig Moore, owner of Younger Than Yesterday Record Store, put up plywood over his storefront.

He did this reluctantly, in what he called, a pre-emptive action against a few ignorant assholes in this town that were targeting businesses in Peoria for random destruction a week ago. He felt that the plywood would look like defeat, so he decided to turn it into a work of art.

Craig along with fellow artists, Dave Moe, Jeff Hyde and and Bear Swanson are currently turning Craig’s storefront into a piece of art. I feel this is a wonderful artistic statement of turning something negative into a positive piece of art for our community.

It’s a work in progress and below are just a few photos I’ve taken from the last week of artwork. There’s more to come and you can watch it unfold in real time by stopping by Younger Than Yesterday and cheering them on. And while you’re there, buy a record or two to support this local business.

I’ll have the entire documentation up next week. Until then, thanks to Craig, Dave, Jeff and Bear for this civic duty! You are true artistic patriots doing positive work when we need it the most. Thank you!

This was Younger Than Yesterday at the beginning of last week. Plywood looks like defeat and it’s not an appealing look for a store. Well, it wouldn’t last for long!

Here’s Jeff Hyde, Craig Moore and Dave Moe who decided to turn the plywood into an exciting and fun piece of art that Peoria could enjoy!

Here they are outlining the bricks for this wall which is going to be an artistic tribute to Pink Floyd’s The Wall album. How perfect is that?

They were cutting lines, which led to David Crosby jokes and cocaine memories from the ‘80’s!

They work well together, like a fine-tuned machine. And just like Penny Lane, it’s a clean machine!

They all showered today and smell sprinkly fresh, like summer breeze! I enjoyed basking in their body odor!

This was the store last Sunday, but stay tuned, there’s more to come! I’ll have the final documentation of this art project next week!

Thanks to Craig Moore, who always keeps things interesting and fun here in Peoria!

“I was so much older then, I am younger than that now.”

Hell yeah! More (Moore) to come next week!

In the meantime, stop by and support this local business!
