I saw a recipe online for “Coca Cola Pork Chops” that looked interesting. I decided to take that recipe and put my own spin on it and see what happens!
Let’s get cooking!
Ingredients for this meal are (clockwise from left): Truvia Brown Sugar, Pork Chops, Coca Cola and Simply Potatoes Shredded Hash Browns.
Plus we’ll be using some ingredients already stored in the MBIP World Headquarters Kitchen.
And, as always, the most important ingredient, a giganzo 24 ounce can of Bud Light!
I thought I’d make a dry rub for the pork chop, so I combined equal parts brown sugar, maple seasoning and chili powder and combined them and then coated the pork chop with the rub.
We’ll let that sit in the refrigerator for a bit.
Now for the Coca Cola sauce to cook the pork chop in.
The recipe I saw online said to use ketchup with the Coca Cola and brown sugar, but as I noted in the introduction, I’m putting my own spin on this so we’re going to use the 816 hot barbecue sauce to spice it up a little.
Okay, all the ingredients have been combined and stirred into a sauce and I’ve put the pork chop in a pan and covered it with the sauce. I’ll put this in the preheated 350 degree oven and it will cook for about an hour.
While the chop is cooking, we’ll make the potatoes.
I got a package of hash browns and put them in a pan and added some Soy Sauce to give it an Asian flavor. Then I added a liberal amount of black pepper and some hearty scoops of Cheez Whiz and mixed that all up.
I topped this potato mixture with Parmesan Cheese and bread crumbs for a tasty crispy topping.
Luckily this bakes at the same degree as the pork chop, so I put the spuds in the oven.
And there they are, the dueling dishes for this week’s Marty Meal! They’re going to bake for about another 45 minutes. Hmm…what should we do till then? Oh, I know…
We’ll have another beer! Cheers!
Alright, it’s 45 minutes later and here’s the two dishes fresh out of the oven. They look and smell fantastic, time to plate up this week’s Marty Meal!
The potatoes are delicious!
The topping is crunchy and the potatoes are rich and creamy and the soy sauce compliments them perfectly!
Now on to the main course!
The dry rub created a little bit of a crust around the pork chop and inside it’s juicy and looks fantastic. Let’s try it out!
I put some of the Coca Cola sauce in a bowl and used it for dipping sauce. I dipped the chop into it and this was amazing!
There’s such a nice combination of sweetness from the Coca Cola and there’s also a wave of tangy spice from the chili powder and maple seasoning.
This was really a pretty simple meal to prepare, but it’s definitely one of my favorites from this series.
And now, let’s address Oscar.
If you’ve been following this series, you’ll know that we got a comment from Oscar who wasn’t happy with our McDonald’s Friday series or the fact that I was posting photos of women in pictorials as a closing to the Marty Meals. Well, I posted a pictorial featuring men and we dedicated last week’s to Oscar himself, so now, it’s back to the women!
And stay tuned Oscar, there’s a McDonald’s post tomorrow! Woo and hoo!
And now, for your viewing pleasure, I present to you this week’s titillating photo montage: Women and Coke!
Coke adds life, it’s the real thing! We’ll see you all tomorrow!
