The other week I made homemade tacos and I’ve still got few of the taco shells left over. This led me to trying a South of the Border inspired grilled cheese sandwich this week.

Let’s cook!

Ingredients for this week’s grilled cheese sandwich are, from left; Kraft Mexican Cheddar Jack Cheese, Old El Paso Taco Seasoning, Cholulua Hot Sauce and Old El Paso Creamy Queso Sauce.

Plus I’ll be using bread from the original sourdough loaf that we started this series out with and seasonings from the MBIP World Headquarters Kitchen and Tasting Area Pantry.

First we’ll put that aforementioned leftover taco shell into a pre-heated 350 degree oven.

That will bake for about five minutes.

While that’s baking we’ll prepare the bread for the pre-grilling stage of this sandwich.

We’ll cover the slices with the Queso cheese spread and add taco seasoning, cayenne pepper and some of the Cholula hot sauce for a little kick.

Okay, the taco shell is cooked and crispy, so we’ll take it out of the oven.

Then we’ll place it into a baggie and smash the fuck out of it.

When we’re done, it’s been reduced to a crunchy and spice mix.

Fuck it, let’s get grilling this sandwich up!

We’ll put the first slice in melted butter and then place it onto the magical grilled cheese pan.

Then we’ll add a fistful of the Kraft Mexican Cheddar Jack Cheese and the ground up taco shell crunchy spice mix.

Oh yeah!

Now we soak the other slice and add it to the sandwich and smoosh it down.

It’s time to flip the sandwich, this is the exciting part!

It’s got a great color to it! It’s golden brown and so delicious and tasty looking!

Looks like we’ve created yet another classic grilled cheese sandwich in this series!

It’s time to cut the cheese!

Wow, this looks and smells amazing! It’s perfectly done and it looks so crispy, buttery and full of cheesy goodness.

Let’s dig in!

Holy screaming shitballs! This is a fantastic grilled cheese sandwich!

The Queso cheese is rich and creamy and the Mexican Cheddar Jack melted nicely and adds a nice sharpness to the sandwich. The taco seasonings and hot sauce give the sandwich a nice spicy zing.

The ground taco shells give the sandwich a crunchy consistency which blends well with the rich melted cheese and the crisp buttery grilled bread.

This is one delicious grilled cheese sandwich!

And now…a moment of cubist grilled cheese art.
