Live, from East Peoria, it’s Saturday Night Take-Out! This week’s host is “The Original” Wonderdog with special guest star, Lexi!
Now please welcome all the way from Fondulac Plaza in East Peoria, “The Original” Wonderdog!
Here we are at “The Original” Wonderdog.
This place has kept a Peoria Velvet Freeze hot dog memory alive here in East Peoria. You can read all about this in an article Phil Luciano wrote over ten years ago.
The dining room is closed due to Covid 19 regulations and if you don’t want to travel to the restaurant, Grub Hub can bring your Wonderdog meal to you.
I placed my order at the front counter and the Wonderdog team went to business putting it together.

Lexi handed me the take-out bag at the front counter that was filled with our Saturday night dinner.
Here it is in the MBIP Mobile and through the magic of these here interwebs, here we are at the MBIP World Headquarters Kitchen and Tasting Area.
There’s the meal out of the bag and unwrapped and ready to dig into!
We’ll start off with the onion rings. These were crispy and delicious!
Next we’ll sample the Loose Meat Sandwich.
This was seasoned ground beef on a bakery-fresh steamed bun.
I got mine with mustard and it was a delicious and simple sandwich. Very reminiscent of a Maid-Rite sandwich.
Next I bit into the legendary Wonder Dog.
This was so tasty and it’s topped with the same seasoned ground beef as the loose meat sandwich. Just like the Loose Meat Sandwich, the bun is steamed and bakery fresh!
I got it with cheese and mustard and this is one delicious hot dog!
For the last course, I ordered the Funnel Cake Fries.
I had never had these and were curious as to what they were.
Oh my god!
These are sweet and tasty strips of deep-fried funnel cake dough that are covered in floured sugar! What a sweet taste treat to end this delicious Saturday night take-out dinner!
