Live, from Peoria, Illinois, it’s Saturday Night, starring this week’s host, Lou’s Drive-In with special guests, Kendall and the Lou’s crew inside the island!
Now please welcome this week’s host, the legendary Lou’s Drive-In!
Here we are at Lou’s Drive-In.
There’s the iconic sign that’s lit up during the summer months here on Knoxville Avenue in Peoria. Directly beneath the sign is another one that shows summer is over because Lou’s closed yesterday.
Luckily I made it there last Saturday for one final summer meal of 2019 at Lou’s Drive-In!
There’s several ways to eat a meal here at Lou’s Drive-In. You can get curb service after 5pm and eat in your car or you can order at the front counter and sit at a picnic table in the parking lot.
I always prefer to sit at the counter at the Lou’s Island inside the parking lot.
There was plenty of stools empty last Saturday, so I sat down and Kendall delivered a large Lou’s root beer with a pretty smile! A wonderful start to the evening!
As you can see they were doing a brisk business and the Lou’s girls in the island were all busy. That’s the owner Laurie in the kitchen window.
Here’s a shot from the other side of the Lou’s island.
I love the lit-up signage overhead.
Obligatory used Lou’s tray shot!
Meanwhile, back at my seat at the island…
Kendall delivers my last meal from Lou’s for the 2019 summer season!
Here’s a birds-eye-view of the dinner. I got a classic combo of a chili-cheese dog with onions and an order of French fries.
The fries were salty, golden and crispy, cooked to perfection!
The chili-cheese dog looks amazing…
And it lived up to how it looked. The hot dog was plump and juicy, the savory chili and creamy cheese complimented each other perfectly and the bun was bakery fresh.
A classic Lou’s meal!
Well, the root beer is all gone…
The Lou’s crew is waving goodbye till next season…
And Lou’s Drive-In goes dark. Pretty soon we’ll be complaining about the cold and the snow.
Have a Happy Labor Day and we’ll see you all tomorrow!
