A Beard Grows In Peoria: A Personal Photo Journal - Week Number Seven

by MBIP

Houston, we have a beard!

Week Number Seven

Well, seven weeks in and the beard is officially grown in. This can only lead to three things...

Extreme close-up on the right...

Extreme close-up on the left...

And a shot of me thoughtfully stroking the grown-in beard. My plan is to let it grow till the end of March and then shave it before the second Marty Monologues show. And speaking of the show, I finally got the introduction done, so I have to go and rehearse that now!

Weekly Growth Chart

The beard is all grown-in soon it’ll be time to dye it! Stay tuned for: A Beard To Dye For, coming soon!

Famous Beards Through The Years: Weird Beard

Our family lived in Louisville, Kentucky from 1963 to 1969. In that time I got into listening to rock ‘n roll music with my brother Jim. The two of us used to listen to WAKY radio which was the local rock ‘n roll station. Our favorite DJ was a broadcaster known only as, “Weird Beard.” He was the nightly DJ and we’d listen to him at night on a transistor radio when we were supposed to be asleep. I still remember when he announced that Paul Revere and the Raiders were coming to Louisville in 1966 and Jim and I bugged the shit out of our parents until they broke down and let us go to our very first rock ‘n roll concert!

If you sent in your name and address you could get your very own Weird Beard Rebellion Card. Both Jim and I had one and it made me very happy to find this online last night! Sometimes the internet can be a good thing!

Here’s a WAKY song survey with Weird Beard on the front of it. While searching around on the internet, I discovered Weird Beard died in 1995. He was just 50-years-old when he died. Thanks for the songs and radio chatter, Weird Beard, you live on in my memories.
