Retro Photo Friday - A Weekly Trip Back In Time - Today: December 24, 2012

Photo From December 24, 2012: Gene Farris @ Jim’s Steakhouse

This is Gene Farris who was a great singer, entertainer and musician. He played in and outside of Peoria for over 50 years and was a legend at Jim’s Steakhouse. Sadly Gene died just about three years after this photo was taken. Luckily I had other encounters with him through the years and you can read my tribute to Peoria’s very own Piano Man right here: Gene Farris—An MBIP Tribute and Memory.

Blog Title And Link: Saturday Night Cheeseburger @ Jim's Steakhouse.

Blog Backstory

I hadn’t been to Jim’s Steakhouse in over 19 years when I did this blog post. I was still doing a cheeseburger tour and while they don’t have them on the menu they made one especially for me, which was very cool!

This is one of the first blog posts for MBIP that was really spontaneous and one that I was really happy with. I felt like I was starting to find my MBIP “voice” with this one. So thanks to everyone at Jim’s for the hospitality on that evening over six years ago!

And this is a song...a song for someone...
