Last month was the 30th anniversary for Jan’s Tap, Peoria’s iconic Cubs bar. Jacob Clifton sent me this invitation to the anniversary party:
I couldn’t attend because the MBIP blog was on vacation and I was working on The Marty Monologues show and didn’t have time to go. So I told him we’d have another celebration in September and that celebration happened last night, so let’s travel back to then and wish Jan a happy 30th anniversary! But first, we can’t wish her a happy anniversary empty-handed, so let’s go get some anniversary gifts!
Anniversary Gifts
Jan’s Tap is known for their vast collection of Chicago Cubs memorabilia, so I went to Urban Artifacts and Gina helped me pick out a Cubs program from 1979, a vintage Cubs button from 1969 and I also got three Peoria magnets made by Chelsie Tamms from Lettering Works. Then I traveled over to CJ Signs and picked up the sign that they made for this occasion and they did a fabulous job designing and printing it! That’s the owner of CJ Signs, Charlie holding it out for display! Okay, time to go wish Jan a happy 30th anniversary!
Jan’s Tap
Here we are at Jan’s Tap which has been standing proudly on this corner for over 30 years now! Check out the Cubs neon in the window! Let’s go in and wish Jan a happy anniversary!
There’s a nice crowd in here tonight. It’s Karaoke Night and that always brings a crowd to Jan’s Tap!
There she is, Jan, the pretty owner of Jan’s Tap! Happy 30th anniversary to Jan and her beloved tavern! She loved the sign, magnets and Cubs souvenirs and said she’d display them in the bar this weekend. And speaking of this weekend...
Las Vegas Night
Jan told me that there’s a special Las Vegas Night happening tomorrow (Saturday) night! It starts around 6pm with food, drink and special Las Vegas themed decorations at the bar. Then around 9pm, Peoria’s own Elvis Presley, Dave Stovall will be performing and following that is a Las Vegas-styled Drag Queen Show! This sounds like one of the best things ever to happen in Peoria! I’ll be there and I hope to see you too! Check out the details here: Jan’s Tap Las Vegas Night.

Here’s just a few of the friendly faces at Jan’s Tap! There’s a crew of regulars here, but first timers are treated just as friendly as those that have been coming here for all of the 30 years Jan has been in business!

The Chicago Cubs!
If you’re a Cubs fan, you’ll be in heaven wandering around in here and looking at all of Jan’s memorabilia and Cub souvenirs. Karaoke
I told you they love karaoke in here and here’s some of the talented singers for the evening! The karaoke is run by King Davis Karaoke and DJ Services. If you’re looking for karaoke or a DJ for a party or event, call them at 309-222-1395!
