Happy 5th of July! Last night I went to the annual 4th of July BBQ at the Peoria Riverfront Museum. And of course I took photos of the whole evening. And of course they’re posted below!
My friend, Clare came over to MBIP World Headquarters and brought glow in the dark rings for us! She did this the last time we went to the PRM BBQ and I was secretly hoping she’d do this again and she did! This made my entire day and night and there will be a shot of the two of us with our rings coming up later in the post. First we have to get there and that’s Clare behind the wheel with me torturing her with the MBIP Camera. Okay, here we are at the Peoria Riverfront Museum, I love this place! Let’s go in and let the festivities begin!
This fellow gave us our tickets and we headed through the front lobby to the outside and I immediately ran into my favorite Peoria Riverfront Museum person, Cathie Neumiller. Cathie said they have a lot going on this summer and some of the activities and attractions include: Playing with Light: The Magic of Lasers, Holograms & Kaleidoscopes; Silver Screen Saturdays: "Christopher Nolan” + “Dunkirk”; All kinds of solar eclipse events including this, this and this; A National Geographic photographer is coming to speak on August 12; and there’s parties for teens and adults happening! Sounds like a fun summer at PRM, I’m hoping to make some of these events and you should too!
Da Bears...Da beer tent..Da people working the tent...where’s Ditka?
Here’s some more friends at the party. In the top photo are Bree, Karen and Phil and Ken is back in town and he and Phil are getting all Miley Cyrus with each other! Steve and Kathy were volunteering at this ticket table and we all put on glow in the dark bracelets that Clare brought for the day. You can’t really see them glowing yet, but we’ll have a demonstration later! And as promised, there’s the shot of Clare and myself with our rings! The couple in the last shot was also working the table next to Steve and Kathy and it was nice of them to pose for the MBIP Camera!
We made our way down to the BBQ area and I got a hotdog (with mustard only, if you missed yesterday’s Point/Counterpoint, click here), some pasta salad and Rice Krispies treats. It was delicious!
And as promised, here’s the Emack & Bolio’s vending station, they’re the busiest vendors at the BBQ! And I ran into Anna and Kyle nearby, this is Kyle’s third time on the blog, but who’s counting...oh, I am! Wonderful to see both of them!
One nice thing about this party is that the entire museum is open and you can go back inside for a little air-conditioning break now and again. We went inside and Karen and Bree were working the green screen photo booth with Phil directing things. That’s our picture we got taken and then I ran into Devan, Leah and Don! Always love seeing them and we had a nice chat!
I wandered down to the other end of Water Street and there was a whole thing going on down there complete with a vodka stand! For some reason I was compelled to stand in another line and at the end of the line was this angel with a 16 ounce can of Miller Lite. It’s a miracle!
Of course while I was down at this end of the street I had to stop in at Emack & Bolio’s. They’re really busy and check out Tim Hennessey, the happiest ice cream man in the world! Chinga said to say hi, Tim!
Meanwhile, back at the Peoria Riverfront Museum, it’s just about fireworks time. But first, a close-up of the fireworks on Kathy's cheek and a demonstration of our glow in the dark bracelets!
And now, the sky has gone dark and it’s a black canvas soon to be lit-up with...
A fantastic fireworks display! They really put on a great show and this was a fun 4th of July! Thanks to Clare for driving and hanging out and to everyone at the Peoria Riverfront Museum for putting together such a fun evening! We’ll see you all tomorrow on the 6th of July!
