Next Saturday is Small Business Saturday. It’s a day that celebrates shopping at local places as opposed to the impersonal, big box chain stores that people flock to on Black Friday, a day where people trample each other in mindless Zombie-like fashion to save thirteen cents on a pair of heavy-duty Zircon-encrusted tweezers at places like the evil WalMart.
Do yourself a favor and skip the fucktard madness of Black Friday and go out and shop on Small Business Saturday and spend your money locally. I pretty much celebrate Small Business Saturday all year long as I rarely shop at a big box chain store. One of the many on-going features here at MBIP is called, “Shop Hop,” where I travel to a local shop and meet the owner and take a look around. I thought in honor of next week’s Small Business Saturday, I’d start a new holiday tradition here at MBIP and feature all the shops I’ve been to and create a little guide to some of the local shops you should go to if you are out and about next Saturday. There’s photos and a link to my posts on all these fine locally owned businesses. Enjoy and shop locally as often as you can and support this town as you do so.
