The golden arches loom ahead as we take off down Route 29 towards Chillicothe.
And through the magic of the internet, you're spared a boring 23 minute ride where nothing happened except me trying to find a decent song on the radio and here we are at Castaways Bar & Grill.
Let's go in and let Saturday Night Cheeseburger begin. Hoohah!
It's been a year since I've been in here. I wonder if Brandi is bartending tonight and more importantly, will she remember me?
I snagged a seat at the end of the bar and who shows up with a bottle of Bud but Brandi looking prettier than ever! And she remembered me! As we did last week, I asked Brandi to pick something other than a cheeseburger off the menu that she considered a tasty house specialty.
Brandi picked an entree from the menu and here she is placing the order. While they prepare that, let's take a look around in here, it's been a year after all, let's see if anything's new in here.

It's Michael Collins, the twisted cousin of Phil and Tom Collins! There's definitely something in the air tonight!
Josh, Leah, Cody and Brad were hanging out behind me. Josh works at Brewer's Distributing Company where we got a tour a while back. He wanted to give a shoutout to Paul Jacob who runs that place and gave us the tour, so I'll join in on that shoutout! Hello to Paul Jacob!
There's tables opposite the bar and as you can see, there's a crowded house in here tonight.
I remember this pool table from last year. It sits in between the bar and the dining room.
Mermaids hang overhead with their arms raised over their heads as if they're being arrested.
Castaways is the only tiki bar I know of in the area and aquatic art decorates the place.
Surfboards hang from the ceilings...
And over here on this wall. Surf's up!
The dining room is closed and chairs are sitting on the table tops in here.
There is one table where you can sit at after dining room hours back here in the corner and it's lit up by Budweiser neon.
As you can see, there's a whole line of Castaways clothing available. I wonder if Tom Hanks gets a royalty from this stuff?
Meanwhile, back at the bar...
A hot sauce ring has been placed at my place, which can mean only one thing...
It's pizza time!
Here's what Brandi picked for tonight's dinner, The Mediterranean Pizza. It looks and smells great!

On my way out I was pleased to see that they still have this cigarette machine that also sells candy and chips.

My Meal
As is the new custom here at SNC, I asked bartender Brandi for a suggestion of one of the tastier items on the menu and she suggested the Mediterranean Pizza, which is just one of 18 specialty pizzas that they offer. I got an eight inch pie which has thin crust and topped with spinach and artichoke dip, green olives, chunks of chicken and a generous amount of fresh mozzarella cheese melted on top. I wasn’t sure about the spinach and artichoke dip topping and the green olives seemed a little strange on a pizza, but I have to tell you, it was one of the best pizzas I’ve ever had! They cook the pizzas in a stone oven and it was really crispy and had a creamy savory/sweetness to it and it was bursting with flavor. That pizza pie did not hit me in the eye, it attacked my taste buds in an everloving delicious kind of way!
The menu at Castaways Bar & Grill is massive. In addition to the pizzas they offer over a dozen styles of burgers, a great selection of sandwiches, salads and soups. Take out and catering is available also.

Three and a half Galloping Gourmets. I didn’t think they could outdo last year’s cheeseburger pizza, but just like that woman that Eric Carmen sang about, they did it!
