Sunday Links: The 56th Anniversary of Woodstock - Plus: The MBIP Coming Attractions!

by MBIP

This coming Friday marks the start of the 56th anniversary of Woodstock, the three day music festival that happened on August 15, 16 and 17 in 1969. This was an historic festival and a moment in our culture when it seemed like peace and love was something that just might happen. Well, it didn’t, but it’s nice to go back to a time when we had innocent visions of the future.

Below are six links to online articles and a quick PSA video about the Woodstock Festival.

And then below that are the coming attractions to yet another week here at MBIP!

Sunday Links

The Woodstock ’69 Lineup - I love this! The entire musical lineup is listed here along with photos and their set-lists.

Photos of Woodstock 1969, on Its 50th Anniversary - These are great photos of the three day festival and my favorite is number 14 of the woman and her pet monkey. I wonder if they’re both still around today?

12 Facts About Woodstock For Its 50th Anniversary - Jimi Hendrix got an $18,000 paycheck out of playing at the festival. Are you wondering what everyone else got? Well look no further than the next entry!

Here’s how much each artist earned from playing Woodstock - Here’s the entire list of what everyone got paid for playing at Woodstock. The band Quill was the bottom of the barrel and got $375 bucks. If you’re like me, you’ve never heard of Quill. Here’s their first song at Woodstock.

“I can dig it” Most comprehensive article(s) ever re: Pete Townshend vs Abbie Hoffman at Woodstock? - This is a compilation of different articles and audio videos of when Abbie Hoffman made the mistake of trying to take the stage when The Who were playing at Woodstock. Pete Townshend El Kabonged him with his guitar and threatened to kill anyone else who dared to step on stage with them. So much for peace, love and understanding!

Woodstock 1969 Headliners: Where Are They Now? - Many are dead, but The Who are still touring with just Pete Townshend and Roger Daltry remaining from the original line-up. Abbie Hoffman killed himself back in 1989, so he won’t be bothering them anymore!

PSA - Don’t eat the you know what.

MBIP Coming Attractions

Monday: Big Behm’s has re-opened on Galena road under new management, but it’s still all in the family. I went there last night and had a nice dinner and evening with my friends, Amber and Joe!

Tuesday: We’re continuing our hot dog tour and this week’s stop is the Ice Cream Shack in downtown Peoria.

Wednesday: The Rhythm Kitchen is now having a DJ night every Wednesday and last Wednesday was DJ Dusty 45’s birthday, so I took him a present picked out by Craig Moore from Younger Than Yesterday.

Thursday: We’ll be doing a Throwback Thursday post from a blog post from over a decade ago on this week’s Throwback Thursday.

Friday: It’ll be time to sample some sort of snack for this week’s Friday Bites post.

Saturday: We’ll be looking back at something from Peoria’s past with yet another Meanwhile, Back In Peoria’s Past posts.
