Back in January I had lunch with Lindsey Mills, Clay Gordon, Lauren Rainson and Taylor Mickelberry, the morning team from Good Day In Central Illinois. We had a fun lunch and in addition to being very talented broadcasters (and producer), they're really nice people. I went on a two month hiatus shortly after that, but they told me that when MBIP came back they'd start having me on as a semi-regular guest to talk a about the MBIP blog and Peoria. Yesterday was my debut as a guest and I thought since this was my first time I'd document the morning, and so, it's off to the MBIP Mobile at an ungodly hour of the morning for me!
Here we are off and running and as I pull into the WYZZ/WMBD parking lot I see a spot that’s reserved for the “Employee Of The Month,” but no one has parked there. Could it be there is no employee of the month? That’s kind of sad, so let’s just keep moving along.
And as we move along we ran into Philip who was at the door and he led us back to the green room which is really a comfortable waiting area complete with magazines, vintage pictures of WMBD and gumball machines! They don’t have as many as Northwoods Mall, but what are you going to do?
Back in the green room I met Kevin Harlan, who’s the General Manager of the stations and Brett Johnson who’s the Integrated Digital Specialist here. Kevin lives above 30/30 Coffee on Main Street and has invited us to take a look at his place, so stay tuned for that!
We’re getting close to going on-air, here’s Taylor Mickelberry, the producer of Good Day Central Illinois who is going to take us into the studio. I’m starting to get a little nervous at this point!
In the studio I saw the rundown list and check it out, I’m on it and they even spelled my name right!
Here we are in the TV studio and there’s Clay Gordon and Lindsey Mills! Great to see both of them again!
Here’s the GDCI weather authority, Lauren Rainson, the cutest weather authority in the world!
It was cool to see her doing the weather on the giant green screen!
Here’s some behind the scenes shots of the camera guys in action and Lindsey and Clay broadcasting live. The last shot is Lindsey, Clay and Lauren all talking at the news desk. They’re not only all talented broadcasters, but they’re the best looking news team in the world! I’m certainly going to look goofy in comparison!
And just to verify that last statement, here’s some screen shots of me looking kind of goofy on air with Lindsey and Clay. I was really nervous but they did a great job of asking me the right questions and making it all move smoothly and it went great! You can check out the interview by clicking right here!
