We haven’t taken a trip on our Peoria Hofbrau World Beer Tour since mid-August and we’re overdue for an MBIP Contributing Writers Lunch, so just like last time, we’ll combine the two and it’s off we go for an afternoon of wonderful food, good camraderie and lots of beer! Speaking of lots of beer...
There's MBIP pal, Contributing Writer and Wheel Man, Scott Turley at the MBIP World Headquarters door sporting a Jaws the Cabbie t-shirt. He generously said he'd drive me as I'm pretty sure I won't be in any shape to get behind a steering wheel by the end of this day! And so it's off we go!

And almost all the tables are filled up, but...
The reserved table in the back is free, so we comandeered that and settled in. There's MBIP Contributing Writer Brandon C. Hovey, who's looking great after winning a battle with Testicular Cancer. This is Raven, our pretty waitress bringing the first beer of the day, the tour has officially begun!
Alright, all the MBIP Contributing Writers are present and accounted for. Clockwise from left: Scott Turley, Bob Gordon, Chip Joyce, Brandon C. Hovey and Yours Fooly. Bob and Brandon have just learned a valuable lesson not to turn their backs on Scott and I! M.I.A. are Contributing Writers: Mike Foster, Craig Moore and "Boris" Boden.
Time to step up to the lunch counter and start the lunch portion of the day!

There's a familiar face on the other side of the lunch counter...
It's Andy, the friendly host and owner of Peoria Hofbrau. Always good to see Andy and catch up with him. He said its been lively at the Hofbrau with Oktoberfest in full gear. There's specials on food and drink all through the month, so you should definitely check out the festive Oktoberfest action at the Hofbrau this month!
Okay, back at the table the food has arrived. Brandon got the Reuben...
Scott got the brat topped with sauerkraut and onions...
I think that Bob got a ham and cheese, but I'm not totally certain.
I think Chip got a turkey sandwich, but once again I'm not certain. I need to take notes next time!
I got the double chili dogs with a healthy dollop of the hot and spicy Hofbrau mustard on top.
I'm fascinated how Bob and Scott look like the dog painting in Goodfellas. One goes this way, one goes that way!
As you can see, Brandon and Chip are equally mesmerized by this Goodfellas phenomenon happening at our table.
Scott noticed a famous writer's name on the World Beer Tour plaques on the wall! Next thing you know, Lloyd the bartender will be serving up the beer behind the bar!
And now a pause in the action as the saying, "You can't buy beer, you can only rent it," rings true!
When I return I find out we have a new waitress, Tiffany! As you can see, the Hofbrau not only has great food and beer, they also have some of the prettiest waitresses in town. I may never leave! And I need to note here that I forgot to write down the name of this beer, so we'll refer to it as the "Mystery Tiffany Beer."
The front corner is my favorite section of Peoria Hofbrau.
Here's a PJ Star article on Andy's dad, Art Guzman who founded the Hofbrau. It is indeed a local landmark, so be sure to stop in and keep it alive!
Okay, everyone else has bailed out except Bob and I, so we decided to belly up to the bar for a few more beers. Hello Spuds MacKenzie!
As always, the Hofbrau has a varied and excellent selection of beers on tap. And they change them out often, so there's always something new to try.

I love the giant German glass engraved beer steins on the bar!
It's shift change as evening rolls in and pretty Henrietta takes charge behind the bar.
I was trying to figure out what beer to have next on the tour and bartender Alex suggested a Busdweiser! Genius idea and here he is pouring it up.
Here's the final beer for this tour, a Kulmbacher, just two consonants and a vowel away from Wombacher. Perfect!
