Goodfellas is one of my all-time favorite films. It was released in the fall of 1990 to rave reviews and has been lauded as the best movie about the mob/mafia ever. It’s based on the book, Wiseguy by Nicholas Pileggi and he co-wrote the screenplay with the director, Martin Scorsese.
The film is presented in a narrative style with Ray Liotta’s character, Henry Hill and his wife Karen supplying the narration. Lorraine Bracco played the part of Karen Hill and she would later move on to another well-known mobster vehicle, the TV show, The Sopranos.
Below are six links to online articles about Goodfellas, including a link from my 365 bars blog where I got to meet the real-life Henry Hill in New York City!
Below that are the MBIP Coming Attractions for next week’s posts!

Monday: Last week, Lou’s Drive-In opened for the spring/summer season and I went there for my Saturday Night Dinner. It was a little chilly for this time of year, but it was still fun seeing the place opened up for the 2019 season! The only sad thing is that the Lou’s sign wasn’t lit up, it’s not working and they’re waiting for it to be fixed. Sob!
Tuesday: It’s the 28th week of our 13 month chicken tour! That translates into seven months! Which means just a half a year to go and we’re all done! This week I’m going to sample yet another chicken and waffles entree. I thought I was done with this mini series within the series, but another place popped up with this dish and I had to go and try it out!
Wednesday: I’m going to go and do another super-awkward edition of, “Can I Eat My Lunch In Here.” I’m doing this tomorrow, so tune in Wednesday because these are always interesting!
Thursday: I’m renaming my cooking series, “Thursday Minute Marty Meals,” because there’s no way I’m ever going to be able to do these in 30 minutes. Yep, I’m no Rachael Ray and every day I’m grateful for that!
Friday: We’ll be doing another Casual Friday and picking out something in the MBIP World Headquarters to look at and write about. So there.
Saturday: I’ll pick a local restaurant to highlight for the on-going Saturday Night Dining Suggestion series.
I also want to note here that this could be the last post using this computer! I’ve had this computer for over 15 years and can’t upgrade it to another operating system, so I had to get a new one. John Ingles from Smiley Graphix has volunteered to help me set up my new iMac, so hopefully that will go smoothly and I’ll be able to continue posting the blog uninterrupted! I hate doing shit like this and I’ll let you know how it goes when the transition is complete! Hopefullly we’ll see you all tomorrow!
