When I visited Emack & Bolio’s this week, I saw a brand new bar next door to it on Prospect that has just opened. It’s called, Lucky’s Modern Dive Bar and I think we need to check this place out. And what better time to do that than right now! So let’s hit the road and get Lucky!
Off we go into the freezing cold night. With the wind chill it's about 15 below zero and it's almost March. I give up, Winter, you win, now please get the fuck out of here and let spring be sprung already! As Tom Petty once said, "Let me up, I've had enough!"
Here we are at Lucky's Modern Dive Bar. It looks cool from the outside...
But let's get inside and take a look, I'm freezing my ass off out here!
I like it in here, nice and dark and it's warm! Let's go grab a seat at the bar.
We're all settled in and pretty bartender, Christine serves up an ice-cold Budweiser, let the night begin!
As you can see, Christine is living the dream!
This is the view of the back of the bar from where I'm seated.
Here's a quartet of beers on tap, there's a couple of empty spots though, so that gives us a good excuse to come back and see what gets added. They've only been open for three weeks, so this is still a work in progress.
Circular tables are positioned behind the bar and these all have different kinds of art on the table tops.
Check out this one, it's got all kinds of logos and ads from Peoria's past.
In this corner you can see ads for WWCT, Hunt's, Vonachen's Old Place and Venture. I could spend the whole night looking at this table, but we must move on.
Tables line the back wall in the front room here.
Put the cell phones down fellows and you might notice there's a whole table of women behind you!
There's another room right next door...
There's a full bar in here too, very cool!
Here's Kate who was minding the drinks at this bar. Lucky's sure has some cute bartenders!
Meanwhile back at the front bar...
I had ordered some deviled eggs and here they are. They look fantastic...
Wow, these are delicious! They have a full menu here, so I need to come back and do some more sampling.
After my snack I took a shot from the other end of the bar.
These two pretty women were seated at a table near the bar and agreed to pose for the MBIP camera. Lily on the left is the manager of Seven On Prospect which is nearby and a place I keep meaning to stop in at and JJ on the right is the general manager of Lucky's. She told me it's been going great here and there's been big crowds despite this horrible winter weather. I have a feeling this place will pack them in when the weather finally breaks. After all...
